CCP, an organization co-founded by Pamela Villa, aims to inspire young people to make an impact in their communities through mentorship and social action. The organization now hopes to help its students carry out their projects and host a conference at the end of the next academic year.
CCP has been mentoring a class of 20 high school juniors for six months. Upon achieving measurable success, CCP is expanding to a new school in the south side of Chicago. CCP’s students have chosen from the following issues and crafted projects tackling them: gender inequality, the environment, violence and the education system. Through the project planning process, the students have created projects with many costs. The gender group, for example, hopes to create a counseling program for younger women in middle school. The grant would help CCP transport students so they can carry out their project. The remaining half of the grant would be used for a conference bringing our students together to collaborate on their projects.
