Jaida Im, Founder of Freedom House, Shelter for Survivors of Human Trafficking

The Idea

Jaida is the Founder and Executive Director of Freedom House, the first shelter in Northern California for adult female survivors of human trafficking. A visionary and inspiration in the fight against modern day slavery, Jaida is making a difference, one life at a time.

The Specifics

Freedom House provides a safe home and a new life for survivors of human trafficking. Jaida and the staff help meet the basic needs of these women (providing them food, clothing, housing) and connect them to much-needed resources (including social service, medical, legal, psychological, emotional, and spiritual). These women come to Freedom House with absolutely nothing, so $1000 can go a long way. It can provide housing for 8 women for two weeks. It can feed 8 women for one month. Even though the road to recovery is difficult, Jaida believes that together we can bring survivors hope and a new life. One survivor said: “Before I came to Freedom House House I was in a very dark place. Thank you Freedom House for bringing me back to life.”
